Visual Designer

Sugar Inc. is looking for a talented, passionate individual to design and produce compelling creative assets that both highlight and leverage the content and editorial of the Sugar Network to keep our readers entertained and engaged.

Specifically, we're looking for the rare and wonderful talent that can create breath-taking visual design and interaction design in web, email, online ads, flash ads, and content mediums that drive intended user behavior.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the marketing mix, from ideation to implementation. They will be responsible for the visual and interaction design and its execution on our public websites, email communications, and online publication. This position requires heavy interaction with the Art Director, Marketing and Sales Marketing managers, Product Development and Product Management within a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design and production of in-house and external web banner advertisements
• Design and production of all other creative assets, including logos, illustrations, user interface, print, branding, media kits, corporate communications, etc.
• Close collaboration with marketing and editorial teams; some collaboration with product development and engineering
• Turn ideas into amazing design
• Exhibit ability to collaborate with user researchers, UI text writers, peer designers, and art directors; illustrate productive collaboration with other corporate peers and sponsors
• Illustrate experience in conceptual development and creative prototypes as well as tactical UI design and implementation

Qualifications include:

• Minimum 3-5+ years experience providing visual design solutions and consulting in a web design, multimedia, or other creative agency-like environment. Proven excellence in graphic design to convey brand and achieve business results.
• MFA, BA, BS or equivalent background in Graphic or Visual Arts.
• Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Able to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
• Self-sufficient team player who can take ownership and lead projects.
• Solid working experience with Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator / Flash (ActionScript experience is a plus) / ImageReady, InDesign, Acrobat
• Good understanding of CSS and XHTML specifications.
• Ability to rapidly prototype mocks and idea.
• Online portfolio with past experience designing for web required!
