Copy Editor - Evening

Do your friends come to you with grammar questions? Is your copy of Strunk and White's Elements of Style particularly well loved? Then we want to talk to you. We need a proud punctuation and grammar geek to help copyedit the PopSugar Network of 15 web sites, including PopSugar, FabSugar, GeekSugar, YumSugar, and more, as well as advertorials and marketing materials.

The evening copy editor would work from approximately 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. every week day, with extra hours expected occasionally as vacation schedules and special events require; responsibilities include proofreading various Sugar content (editorial, advertorial, and marketing) for grammar, punctuation, style, and spelling. At least one year of copy editing experience is required; previous blogging and/or online experience preferred. This job is located in San Francisco with work from home flexibility.

Qualifications:

Responsiblities:

Provide ongoing support to the Sugar Finance & Accounting and Management teams with all finance – related matters
Develop and compile budgets and forecasts, along with supporting analyses
Support Display Sales team with SFDC reporting, commission calculations and requested analysis
Monitor key performance indicators and drive the scaling and automation of financial processes, assist with ad hoc analysis as needed
Maintain vendor and lease database, along with renewal dates and key terms

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred with a strong academic record

Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

Distinctive problem solving and analysis skills, combined with strong business judgment

Video Editor

Sugar Inc. is looking for a talented video editor to join our PopSugar Studios & TV team in San Francisco for a part time position that has the potential to become full time. The video editor will be based in San Francisco and will work closely with producers in San Francisco and Los Angeles to prep and edit a variety of video projects. The video editor will be expected to work with previously made graphics as well as create new ones and will be required to animate still photos to enhance written scripts. The candidate should demonstrate a strong attention to detail and be extremely comfortable working under tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

High level knowledge of and comfort with Final Cut Studio
Working knowledge of Photoshop, editing with motion graphics, and animating still photos
Working knowledge of accessing and using video from video servers, video archives, and other online resources
A creative eye and innovative style of editing
Experience with green screen, shooting, and producing is a plus
Ability to troubleshoot equipment in the field and in the studio
Ability to work well with the video producer, other video editors, and editorial staff in a fast paced, daily show environment
Ability to produce a professional grade product under deadline pressure

Specifically, we're looking for the rare and wonderful talent that can create breath-taking visual design and interaction design in web, email, online ads, flash ads, and content mediums that drive intended user behavior.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the marketing mix, from ideation to implementation. They will be responsible for the visual and interaction design and its execution on our public websites, email communications, and online publication. This position requires heavy interaction with the Art Director, Marketing and Sales Marketing managers, Product Development and Product Management within a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Responsibilities:

Design and production of in-house and external web banner advertisements
Design and production of all other creative assets, including logos, illustrations, user interface, print, branding, media kits, corporate communications, etc.
Close collaboration with marketing and editorial teams; some collaboration with product development and engineering
Turn ideas into amazing design
Exhibit ability to collaborate with user researchers, UI text writers, peer designers, and art directors; illustrate productive collaboration with other corporate peers and sponsors
Illustrate experience in conceptual development and creative prototypes as well as tactical UI design and implementation

Qualifications include:

Minimum 3-5+ years experience providing visual design solutions and consulting in a web design, multimedia, or other creative agency-like environment. Proven excellence in graphic design to convey brand and achieve business results.
MFA, BA, BS or equivalent background in Graphic or Visual Arts.
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills.
Able to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
Self-sufficient team player who can take ownership and lead projects.
Solid working experience with Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator / Flash (ActionScript experience is a plus) / ImageReady, InDesign, Acrobat
